art’otel dresden and the wider international art’otel family are saddened to learn of the passing of our outstandingly talented signature artist, A. R. Penck, on 02 May.
art’otel dresden is privileged to house many of Penck’s original works within the public areas and guestrooms; all of which complement the hotel’s artistic visions and energies. Born in Dresden, Penck was known globally for his paintings of human figures, promoting huge showcases in New York and London amongst other key capital cities. Penck also produced thought-provoking sculptures and drawings; many using everyday materials including wood, bottles and foil; all reflecting symbolic themes and ideals.
